Mercury Retrograde - Creative Energy Flow for each Zodiac and House
Dear Ed,
It's another Mercury Retrograde season. The usual reels are out on Instagram and FB etc. About how this a time to be careful in everything we do because there are bound to be mistakes and such. About how everyone's exes are going to come back for any last bit of blood they left back from before.
The fear-spreading really pisses me off, Ed.
So I thought I'd write to you about it.
See Ed, I did not learn traditional astrology. However, my Granddad taught me to read energy fields using the planets to represent energy field functions. So I've been reading people's energy fields that way from the age of about three.
Because I had a false birthdate growing up and my traditional astrology horoscope made no sense to me, I thought there was a huge discrepancy between what the names of the planets and houses and constellations meant to me and to everyone else.
Recently, for the first time in my life, I put my real birthdate and such and generated a horoscope. I was absolutely gobsmacked shocked. There was me, my life so accurately described. I actually screamed, Ed. I thought, "Wow, so all you other people had this all along?"
And then Ed, I opened yours. I have not recovered from that moment and I know I never will. Because I saw the exact representation of your living energy field as if you were standing in front of me.
I realized, Ed, that what Granddad taught me and how I see energy field does match many aspects of traditional astrology. Except I seem to have a slightly different way of seeing these.
So I thought I'd share about how I see Mercury in the energy field and Mercury Retrograde, so people don't swim about in the muck of half information that sends about fear of this amazing opportunity.
I have to say, Ed, that there are two kinds of energy fields. The fake humans have energy fields that do not have the soul feeding their field. They are like battery powered toys. They need external feeding to keep functioning. When the battery dies, they die.
Beings with soul, are plugged in to the universe, like an electrical appliance on direct power.
Living soul bodies are directly powered by the lights of the universe. The Sun, the moon, the planets. Our souls and bodies are made of these great forces mixing.
So how a soulless body reacts to any planet's force or pulling on the body is very different from a living soul body's reaction.
Traditional astrology, for the most part has degenerated into one tuned for the soulless, as they make up the majority of the population. There is an element of fatalism in it, because the soulless live but once and when the ride is finished, it's finished. They have no master of their own course enthroned in their heart. They have no power to choose another course whether of their spiritual experience or their outer experience. They are slave to the planetary weather.
We on the other hand are souls with soul choices that have resulted in the configuration of the heavenly bodies overhead as we stepped into this realm. We are ever walking the path our soul has chosen. We have chosen weapons before entering this realm, weapons we will use on our journey. We have foreseen the challenges we will face and brought what we need to deal with those. We are a living breathing energy field.
I write this for the living souls, Ed, walking this earth. I share my vision of the great planet called Mercury, one of the great powers that generated our soul and therefore body.
When I was three or four, Ed, I use to lie under the grape vine in the garden and watch the sunlight illuminating the roof of green, green leaves over me. One afternoon as I lay there mesmerized by the heaven of green leaves over me, I began to see the life force moving through the stalks and the leaves. And I saw Ed, as the life force moved and returned, there was a point where it bumped into itself and set off like little sparks there. This is where the little grapes would grow. They were the result of energy of the plant meeting itself.
You can see in the picture here, how grape flowers look like sparks. They literally form out of those energy sparks.
That particular function of energy, Ed, where life force meets life force resulting in sparks, that result in something new forming there; is Mercury.
It's happening all the time in the living world, and all creation of life forms need those sparks to happen so that flowers and fruits can form.
So you see, it's quite sexual, Ed. When sperm reaches egg, the sparks are Mercury; That friction. There is infinite cosmic information there. Cosmic Magic. There is revelation, there is concealment, there is the letting go, there is withdrawal; there is the open, there is the occult.
When we enter this realm on our own, Ed, ie., come out of our mother's body as an independent body; the position of the planet Mercury in the sky above us, corresponds to the area of our life experience where the sparks will fly out of. From that place will be our flowering and fruiting. From that place will be our magic-making. From that place all our different energies will unite into one stream of light out towards the realm, towards others, in communication of so many types.
When the planet Mercury goes retrograde, Ed, first of all, it is not moving backwards at all. It seems that way, because it is ESTABLISHING a certain presence in a place in the universe and time. In a way, it's actually digging its heels in a place and focusing its energy there, while the rest of the sky spins on.
You'll agree with me, Ed, that every living being has the right to stand somewhere and say, "There's something about this place, this view, this sentence on this page... Wait, I have to look at this again. I have to read this again. I have to listen to this again. There's something important here I have to receive."
You remember cassettes, Ed? Remember how if we were captivated by a song, we would stop the tape player and rewind the tape and hear the song again?
That's what Mercury Retrograde is.
This is when we collect up precious things of ours we let slip in the hustle and bustle of our lives. This is when we look through all the things we collected and find that one precious crystal, or that one precious things we overlooked in the rush of life. This is when we bring out treasures that got pushed to the back of the drawer, things that really mean a lot to us. This is when we remember who we really are, what we really want and change course if need be, to go where we want, instead of where everyone else is heading.
This is that powerful time, when we break out of the mass consciousness of the thug world that rushes us this way and that, with everyone else.
This is that moment in a crowded railway station when a person suddenly stands still and signs out of the feeling of being rushed, the worry and anxiety of the crowd all hoping to get a place to sit, or not miss the the train; when the person takes in the place, the experience and finds their feet solidly on the ground, their fingers around their bag, their ticket in their pocket, and feels that feeling of being prepared for whatever comes next; or decides to go in the opposite direction altogether.
In this moment is born the energy that will truly motivate us in whichever path we choose to go. Because the inertia or secondary energy of the crowd will die away as the train leaves the station. And when we get off the train, that energy movement will be gone too. And it will be just us, on the ground, in a new place. That's when the quality of those moments before we set out on the journey, come into play.
That's when we start flowering and fruiting.
So you see, Ed, what an amazing opportunity Mercury Retrograde is, what a holy and sacred time for our very life energy. It is a portal to natural healing in every way.

You built your castle in the air alright, but it was no normal air, it was the everflowing lifestream of something you will never stop loving. It could be the simple crisp morning air on your way to work; it could be this idea you want to see to fruition before you die, even if you die getting there.
During Mercury Retrograde you will want to search your life for all those things, those people, those places where your lifestream of air, flowed through. Those things, people, places may all be changed but your treasure that you got from those moments is eternally yours to carry along to motivate you.
Mercury in Cancer - THE CALL OF THE WILD
Your creative energy sparks out from things that you sensed in the environment. The call of the wild, the call of the ocean, the call of your baby's beating heart, the call of your Beloved across time and space that you heard before you met them. That's what sets you off, and during mercury retrograde, you'll experience the shutting down of your attention from the things that hog your senses and time as your soul listens for the call of the wild, the call of universe, the call of love calling you on your path.
Mercury in Leo - METAL ON METAL
The friction of wheels on the road energizes you. The sound of metal on metal releases hormones in your brain. Your creative energy flows from those moments and those experiences where you felt challenged. It is not the habit of people in our culture these days to seek out what challenges us, but it was your habit in old times. Fear was never your blanket. Your challenges and your challengers are where your motivation is born.
During Mercury Retrograde you will feel a reckless rush to go to the bar you were thrown out of, to meet the person who called you an asshole, and visit the place they said you'd not amount to very much in life. Mercury in Virgo - THE DISTILLED ESSENCE
Your creative energy flows from those moments when you perceived a truth that explained the world to you, that answered all your questions. You already know that it isn't a matter of mental logic, but a feeling of satisfaction inside because your soul was at peace in that moment, your inner conflicts stilled. During Mercury Retrograde you will tend to shed your inhibitions, your commonsense and lunge out into something for the heck of it. You will try to get into that playtime frequency where you might find that innocent reasonless joy that sparks you.
Mercury in Scorpio - THE SUBSTANCE
Your creative energy sparks out from your experience of something that filled the hunger of your soul. You have a deep hunger for true substance and quality. Flaky, cheap shit irritates you. You want what's real, what's hot, what is what the package says it is. Consequently one of the things you do in life is expose things that are not what they say they are. During Mercury Retrograde you will find yourself restless, fed up of the shallowness of things of this world.You will want to withdraw into your private world where things have meaning and substance. Mercury in Aquarius - THE FIRST BIRD
Seeing the first rays of the dawn before others is your thing. Seeing the darkness first, even when it's bright. You see what's developing before it's arrived. Your creativity is born in your vision of things not yet tangible. To bring something from nothing into reality is your thrill. You need to invest in the intangible magic to be happy and motivated.
When Mercury goes retrograde, you feel the daily routine troubling you, because you want to live in the realm of possibility and dreaming of the impossible. You attempt to connect back to your zone, as you should. The chance of you doing drastic things like changing jobs, careers and so on is quite high.
Mercury in Pisces - THE COOKIE
Your creativity comes from the instinct of seeing magic in the ordinary. A cookie is not just a cookie. There's no such thing as "just a cookie". You have a value system of your own and you need to honor and uphold it for energy to keep flowing through you.
When Mercury goes retrograde, the chance of giving away or losing things you were holding on to is very high, as you attempt to change your life to reflect your internal value system instead of what's expensive or new and should be kept and what isn't and should go.

Mercury in the 1st House
Mercury here makes the person vulnerable to suggestions from people who want to use their mental agility to solve their problems for them.
During a retrograde, this person will tend to purposely withhold themselves from using their mental energy for others. An attempt to save energy.
Unfortunately when the retrograde is finished, the person often gets morally pulled into letting others command their mental energy again. It takes them decades to understand how their energy was being drained.
Mercury in the 2nd House
This person is a playful, cheerful person. They like the simple things in life, but get psychically or otherwise goaded into using their mental agility towards making money for others. Chasing after money for money's sake or simply surviving in an expensive place drains them. They dream of simple living in a small town or such but they cannot break out of the sense of duty they have towards others.
During Mercury retrograde they will have unsettling urges to escape the grind, even break up or get a divorce and have a complete change of lifestyle. Eventually if they don't live the way they want to, they end up having a messy divorce or such before they get the lifestyle of their choice.
Mercury in the 3rd House
This person is a lover of nature, a seer of auras and with a child's heart ever young. They can get taken hostage by those who know to manipulate such nature spirits. This person can also be very dangerous when they wake up to what's happening to them.
Mercury retrograde often makes them wake up to injustice being done to them, people faking friendship with them and such. They tend to be surrounded by thieves and actually run the risk of their intellectual property and art being continually stolen in many ways. There comes a time in their life when they'll chose loneliness over being used and robbed and that will become a most fertile time in their lives and set the ground to find true soul people.
Mercury in the 4th House
This person is psychically disturbed with issues from past lives. They tend to have shoe bites and discomfort walking in the life they're in, because they feel displaced. In fact their soul does not want to be comfortable without releasing the feelings carried in from before. They attract the same circumstances as before - constricting situations in which they don't have access to all the books they want to read, or music they want to listen to.
They are extremely, extremely loving and with the ability to heal a broken heart. But they want to heal everyone but themselves.
When Mercury goes retrograde, they start feeling like doing things that make themselves happy, but are usually horrified by what they've been programmed to see as "selfishness". They struggle to stay healthy in life till they learn to see themselves as someone more than a person of service to others.
Mercury in the 5th House
This person is astute as a knife and as unassuming as a child in a chocolate fountain, both at the same time. No one knows which way this person will swing. They will go to another country and spend two days in the hotel missing home, writing poetry and blogs about it. On another day they'll inquire about moving for good to this other country.
The risk they incur is not being taken seriously. This becomes a problem as they enter their twenties.
When Mercury is retrograde, they find themselves looking at serious things they're serious about. Long term investments and such. Mercury in the 6th House
This person loves pets and caring for others in general. They are quite technical minded and go into the nitty gritty of things without a problem. They are problem solvers and don't give up easily. The problem they face is imagining that others feel the same way. They are often used and dumped by those who like the idea of someone caring for them a while. They are often betrayed by people who devalue them because they offer their help so generously and without even being asked.
They carry these wounds inside a lot and it tends to affect their health so that even by their thirties they're seeking treatments to help serious long term conditions.
During Mercury Retrogrades, they tend to have dreams in their sleep and waking dreams of changing their personality, coloring their hair some drastic different color, sleeping with someone they never would otherwise. It's because they're not able to resolve that they need to keep their caring for those who deserve it. Caring for others is so ingrained in them as a behavior that they don't know who they are outside of it.
Once they deal with this, they become people of power in organizations and in their own homes. To be able to know who to help and care for, is a real super power.
Mercury in the 7th House
This person is deeply in love with words and music. They're nearly always tripping on those. The reason they can is because they have a high level of integrity in their speech and other communications, and they assume everyone else has too. To comprehend that others lie, that people sing things they don't mean, and in general that people put out pictures of themselves that are not true, comes as a shock to this person. This person is great with money and numbers or absolutely the opposite. They have the ability to work with energy to make a lot out of a little. If they're a homemaker, they will have the loveliest house on the tiniest budget. If they're into banking they will go far, far from where they started out. A danger they face in this thug world is being sabotaged very early in life when their confidence is developing by someone jealous of their abilities.
When Mercury goes retrograde, they find themselves facing something like a split. Those who use them program them to believe that they must use their energy for certain things and certain agendas and people. This person is uncompromising in their idea of quality in everything they apply themselves to. They are those people who make intricate projects happen. They are seldom appreciated, but nearly always employed. It takes them decades to realize how good they are at what they do, as most employers will play down how good they are.
When Mercury retrograde is happening they begin to feel the instinct to change careers, find new things to put their energy in. Naturally this terrifies those who need them. So this can be a tense time for them. This person needs to come out of the net of endless rows of family, acquaintances and such which psychically keeps them devalued and categorizes them as someone "dependable" who can be used by anyone who needs help anytime.
This person tends to find love completely outside of their circle and with that find happiness and appreciation.
Mercury in the 11th House
This person is a destroyer of common consciousness. They were breaking the rules before they could walk or talk. Their mind travels off the beaten path. Thy're either the leader of the group or the rebel. Head-boy or Head-girl or expelled for doing the unthinkable. They tend to fall in love with unlikely people.
During Mercury Retrograde, they begin to see their lives as one big picture instead of in bits and pieces. This sobers them. When young, they can go into depression feeling that life is robbed of all magic. As they grow up they begin to see how powerful their free mind can be when they're grounded. They are a force in the natural healing industry because they see the need for grounding and unconventional methods of healing.
Mercury in the 12th House
This person is a treasure finder. They have an amazing connection with nature and the rest of the universe which they often are able to express in music and words. People around try to make them mercenary and money minded but they don't do that. They'll give a homeless person the shirt off their back. They deal in treasures. Antiques, talent hunters, even if just recruiting for a construction company.
When Mercury goes retrograde they begin to question their life choices and very often will decide to leave a career or job or relationship or such. They tend to wait through many Mercury retrogrades before they make changes.
